  • The following outlines several Funding Sources available, see the administrative Director / Financial Aid Advisor for further details.

    Pell Grant
Pell Grants are Federal Aid programs entitling undergraduate students to a financial grant that does not need to be repaid. Eligibility is based on financial need.

To apply for the grant, a student must be enrolled at least on a Part-Time schedule in any qualified program at the Ohio State College of Barber Styling. Applications for the Pell Grant are available in the Administrative Office.

A student who has a Bachelor's Degree, or who has defaulted on a Student Loan is not eligible to receive the Pell Grant.

    Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
The Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant is a federally funded grant, available to a student who has exceptional financial need. A student who is awarded a SEOG Grant must first submit an application for the Pell Grant, and receive a Pell Grant award. SEOG funds are limited.

    Direct Subsidized Loan
A Direct Subsidized Loan (also referred to a Federal Direct Stafford / Ford Loan.) This loan is from the U.S. Department of Education and is calculated on the basis of a student's financial need, and other specific eligibility requirements. The federal government does not charge interest on these loans while the borrowers are enrolled:

    1. At least on a Part-Time schedule

    2. During a six (6) month grace period following graduation

    3. During authorized periods of deferment.

Students interested in obtaining more detailed information may do so by submitting their request in writing to the Ohio State College of Barber Styling Administrative Office.

    Direct Unsubsidized Loans
Direct Unsubsidized Loans are available to undergraduate and graduate students; there is no requirement to demonstrate financial need. Your school determines the amount you can borrow based on your cost of attendance and other financial aid you receive. You are responsible for paying the interest on a Direct Unsubsidized Loan during all periods. If you choose not to pay the interest while you are in school and during grace periods and deferment or forbearance periods, your interest will accrue (accumulate) and be capitalized (that is, your interest will be added to the principal amount of your loan).

Maximum Financial Aid eligibility for qualified students (per award year):

    Pell$0 to $7395

    Direct Loan-Sub$0 to $3500

    Direct Loan-Unsub$0 to $6000

    Veterans Benefits
The Ohio State College of Barber Styling is approved to assist Veterans, Reservists, National Guardsmen and Eligible Dependents who qualify for the GI Bill ® or VA Education Benefits. See the Executive Administrative Director / Financial Aid Advisor for further details.

    Grievance Policy

If a student does not think that the college has adequately addressed a concern or complaint, the student may consider contacting the Board and/or the Accrediting Commission.

All complaints considered by the Board and/or Accrediting Commission must be submitted in writing, with permission from the Complainants for the Board and the Accrediting Commission to forward a copy of the complaint to the college for a response. A re-entry fee is not charged following an approved leave of absence of no more than 180 calendar days.

Any leave or leaves of absence extending beyond 180 calendar days within a 12-month period may be cause for termination. If a student does not return from their leave of absence, they will be terminated. A re-entry fee would be charged, and the procedure for re-entry will be followed.

Students receiving grants, certain types of loans, and other forms of federal funds MUST abide by the procedures required by the Federal Government as follows:

Regular Leave of Absence: A regular leave of absence is time off requested by the student for personal reasons. A regular leave of absence is from 14 to 180 calendar days. A specific date of return MUST be established prior to the student starting the regular leave of absence.

Medical Leave of Absence: A written, verifiable statement from a doctor (on their stationary) may be required at the discretion of the Executive Administrative Director for a qualifying medical leave of absence.

Approved regular leave of absence / medical leave of absence may extend a student's projected graduation date without penalty or additional tuition / fees.
